I am a recent graduate in History of Art and over the past year I have gained industry experienceworking freelance for ITV's Emmerdale as a prop hand, both in stores and on set. In July 2022 I completed the Centre for Screen Excellence Craft Course in Art Direction and Props with Screen Yorkshire. This course taught me a range of skills for an entry level position in the art department including technical drawing, model making, mood boarding and basic CAD work. I have completed work placements in the art departments of two feature films The Mercy (Blueprint Pictures) and The Death of Stalin (Quad Productions). During these placements I supported the art department making graphics using Adobe Photoshop, doing calligraphy for props and researching for historical accuracy. More recently I have received a credit as art department assistant on a BFI short film: Swole (Silent Temple Films).
Studying History of Art has also helped me to develop an eye for visual details such as colour, line, and light. It has also improved my research skills, and I would love to work on period dramas and bring my knowledge and enthusiasm for historical objects, design, and aesthetics into my work in the industry. I have completed a Level 3/4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. I enjoy working with my handsto build and make things and therefore specialised in areas where I could work manually such asprintmaking, textiles and bookbinding.
