I am a recent law graduate with a number of years' experience working in the hospitality sector, seeking a career change into film production. With my hospitality experience, I am comfortable with any physical work required and dealing with clients or taking directions for tasks or working alongside others. Additionally, I have experience with back of house admin tasks, having spent some years working in a management position where I would deal with new starter sign-on and training, weekly stock takes and orders, nightly cash reconciliation, petty cash expenses, amending rotas etc. Through my degree, in which I achieved First Class honours and a Judge's Award for best performance in the course, I have honed my organisation and time management skills, attention to detail with information-heavy documents, formal written communication, and research skills, as well as becoming more comfortable in reading and understanding professional and legal documents. Alongside these skills, I also have a strong work ethic, particularly when there is something new for me to learn, and enjoy finding ways to optimise efficiency in any tasks I regularly engage in.
In terms of film, I primarily enjoy dramas with a bit of comedy, like 'In Bruges' or 'The Truman Show,' as well as more serious dramas like '12 Angry Men' or 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley.' Outside of film I also of course have an interest in law, having studied the subject at university and focused on a number of areas including data protection and IP law, and I found a particular interest in the topics of employment, contract, criminal, and tort law, as I find these are related to legal issues I come across most often, whether personally or through the news, and I enjoy being able to use my legal knowledge to better understand these situations. In addition, I also have an interest in music, both playing and listening. I have had lessons in traditional Irish music on fiddle, and am self-taught on guitar and piano. I have performed in a battle of the bands with a schoolmate playing guitar, in which we came second place. I have also composed a number of pieces on guitar and and piano, as well as composing some music electronically on the computer having found enjoyment doing this as part of a music GCSE assessment.I also enjoy mental challenges as I do a number of puzzle games every night, including crosswords and Connections, and will occasionally complete logic grid puzzles and any other interesting puzzles I come across.
