Hello, my name is Thomas Jackson. I see myself as a dedicated and adaptable filmmaker with a passion for storytelling and a diverse skill set spanning directing, scriptwriting, production management, lighting and editing. My technical expertise includes Canon camera equipment, set lighting, steady cam systems, and Adobe editing software. I thrive in collaborative environments and strive to ensure that every detail of a project is handled with care. I also love to be involved in my local filmmaking community, working as a volunteer judge and host at IndieFlicks, in addition to hosting a weekly writer’s group, I stay inspired by engaging with the creative community. Through my work I hope aid in fostering inclusive representation in media and creating stories that reflect the diversity of the world around us. My goal is to continue growing as a filmmaker while contributing to meaningful, impactful content in a dynamic production environment.
Away from filmmaking and weekly cinema trips, I enjoy collecting records, reading novels, researching English folk stories and tending to my plants.I am very eclectic in my music and reading tastes. When it comes to my music, I’ve got albums ranging from Glenn Miller to Sabrina Carpenter, although my favourite artist is easily David Bowie. When it comes to reading, I love to challenge myself with new writers and stories that I may otherwise overlook, allowing me to expand my knowledge and find new inspirations. My favourite author is Joseph Knox, his debut novel Sirens sparked my love for reading.I became interested in English folk stories after witnessing a seeming lack of them recorded when you compare them to other countries, such as Ireland’s Fairies and Swedish hildurfolk. The more I read into these stories, the more I found them to have a surprisbe surprisingly true about protecting what modern scientists have determined to be key stone species. I believe that keeping these stories alive is an excellent inspiration for my own work and understanding of the natural world around us.
