My name is Liam Taylor, and I am a recent film graduate currently based in North Yorkshire. In 2022, I graduated from York St John University after completing a course in Media production: Film & Television. Recently, I completed a training course in Virtual Production in conjunction with Unreal Engine 5 at the Academy of Live Technology, located at Production Park in South Kirkby.During my time studying at Selby College, where I also studied Media Production. I was offered an incredible opportunity led by Screen Yorkshire. I was given a guided tour of ITV’s hit series, Victoria. Located in Church Fenton. It was here that I was given a unique insight into the working practices of high-end television. My experience at Church Fenton was highly invaluable, as it left me yearning to accelerate my professional development and left me with a passionate desire to join the respected film worker community. I am currently seeking to re-enter the film and television industry, after gaining my first credit on a feature film titled Ocean Deep, which was back in 2022. I was given this opportunity after being offered the role as a studio assistant at Highfield Grange Film Studios in Bubwith. During this time, I was responsible for co-managing the studio to ensure safe and effective operations, as well as assisting the film crew by carrying out runner-type jobs, in order to ensure timely completion of the production.
During my time studying at university, I was able to explore the wide spectrum of media production in its multiple forms. Ranging from film production, photography, live broadcasting and more. As a result, I was able to build a comprehensive skill set, as I learned how to operate professional filmmaking equipment. This included jibs, tracks, lighting equipment, sound recording equipment and vision mixing desks. In addition, I gained strong skills in Adobe editing software platforms, including Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I was also introduced to AVID media composer workflows. Since completing the course, I have continued to practice my editing skills, which also includes VFX, as I have a strong background in Blender and Unreal Engine. At this current stage, I am seeking to locate and obtain more entry level positions, as I still consider myself new to the creative industries. Gaining on-set experience is currently paramount to me, and I am fully prepared to travel all across England in order to fulfil this goal if necessary. Since completing my course at the Academy of Live Technology, I have also developed a desire to gain more experience operating on virtual production volume sets if presented with the opportunity, as they are currently helping to enhance the creative industries, by implementing live LED wall set-ups and working in conjunction with radical real-time game-engine technology.
