My past experience in the workroom handling a variety of materials for different shows and productions demonstrates I am competent in my abilities in hand sewing, as well as using domestic and industrial sewing machines. In addition, I also have experience working with unconventional materials such as latex sheeting and leather. In previous jobs, including my role as Wardrobe Mistress, I had been tasked the responsibility for undertaking all aspects of costume maintenance for long performance runs and keeping the garments clean. In addition to my career within the industry, my experience working in Alterations outside of it has given me further transferable skills such as running repairs, the necessity for attention to detail and making adjustments where needed. In terms of costume fittings, I have a good foundation knowledge. With new ways of creative working and managing I always strive to update myself, adapt and learn independently and through direction of fellow colleagues.A strength of mine would be taking on a challenge with a focused and enthusiastic attitude, especially under stressful conditions.I always strive to fill in gaps in my knowledge and it is a passion to be able to work within the costume industry no matter what role. In November 2018 I was involved in a serious injury outside of work that pulled me out of the industry (and my home at the time) for over a year which unfortunately then led directly into the Covid lockdowns. However, it gave me the opportunity to re-evaulate my position in costume. It has always been a passion of mine to strive filling gaps in my knowledge to help achieve what is necessary in completing projects. I am still able to drive and also own a car. Since my recovery I have managed my strength and health to be able to continue working and heavy carrying as an added bonus. If anything it has fuelled my aspirations to always improve with a positive outlook.
