Whilst studying my BA Film Production degree at the University of Salford, I was able to take advantage of many opportunities to develop my practical film-making skills and focus on specialising in camera and lighting. I was able to complete kit training sessions, which means I am proficient with a multitude of cameras, including the Panasonic Varicam LT, 35, and the Panasonic EVA-1; Canon C200 & C70; RED Komodo (which I shot my final film on); and the RED Dragon, among others. I have had the opportunity to work extensively with each of these cameras due to working on other student films. In addition to those cameras, I have worked on 16mm and can load and shoot on it. When it comes to my hard skills, I have experience with multiple editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and AVID. My experiences in the creative industry so far have led me to continue growing as a cinematographer. I am always willing to learn from others and collaborate creatively. Due to my background in the service industry, I have many transferable soft skills which I have already begun to use. I am very dependable and keen to work hard. I am very organised and great at problem-solving due to my time as a supervisor at Nando's. After completing my degree over a month ago, I have just completed 5 days on an independent film set, where I was a spark. I just hope I can continue working in film and progress beyond the service industry.
My special interests revolve around my passion for connecting with people and for making whoever is consuming my films or creative projects feel seen and understood. I love creative storytelling, especially visual storytelling, and have created many short-form videos and film concepts from a young age. When it comes to personal projects, I believe in telling stories you have experienced. I think retelling events or experiences from your life can be therapeutic and help others who have experienced similar situations feel less alone. I know that creating films has given me a voice to share things, and I think it can be an amazing way to bring audiences together and spark conversations. Some of my favourite films include; A Promising Young Woman (Fennel, 2020)Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind (Gondry, 2004)DUNE: Part One (Villeneuve, 2021)In the future of my career, I hope to work on films that challenge how certain groups of people are seen and treated, and to spread awareness of things that are overlooked because they have become normalised.
