Hey, I'm Amira, an aspiring Film Producer and Festival Director from Melbourne, Australia, now based in London.During my final year of study, I tested all of my strength, directing two film festivals and producing a short film, two of my biggest passions. While producing my film, I became increasingly curious about distribution, which ultimately inspired me to take a class about the "festival experience. Putting on my first festival was an out-of-body experience, watching the festival rise into such an incredible night and witnessing my peers beam with pride as their films played on the big screen for the first time truly fueled my desire to keep growing my skills and continue bringing that same feeling to as many young filmmakers as I can today.
I began my media journey at RMIT University in 2022. During my studies (Bachelor of Communications (Media)), I was fortunately exposed to various forms of media in different classes and workshops. Some classes taught me how to manage a live broadcast, edit and create my own film, produce a series of podcast episodes, and even, a personal favourite of mine, create a film festival. All of these enlightening classes helped me see where my strengths lie, and that is the splendid craft of producing.Bouncing between different forms of media, I couldn't pick just 1. I took on various roles both within the classroom and outside of the classroom, but always found myself constantly coming back to roles that helped construct the foundation of a project.
