Description
I'm Sara Balestrieri, I graduated in 2020 with an MFA in Costume Design for Performance at ECA of the University of Edinburgh and started working in the costume department for film, TV and theatre.
After a few daily experiences on set as a trainee between 2020 and 2021, I've been accepted to complete an internship at Angels Costume House in London, during summer 2021. I was in charge of the returns, checking the items, making small alterations to fix the garments, keep neat and tidy the warehouse, sorting the items in the corrects historical sections and assisting the deliveries.
At the end of this experience, I started working as a freelancer for various High-end TV projects and film productions, covering multiple roles as a costume fitter, stand-by, design assistant, and buyer.
My main tasks were preparing the line-up for the shooting, assisting and doing the fittings with the actors, establishing the looks following my supervisor's guidelines, quick alterations, standing by on set, keeping track of all the changes/outfits (generally using the app Sync on Set), buying and sourcing, breaking down the scripts, receipt reconciliation.
From 2023 I started gaining experinece in theatre too, collaborating with the ATG, the London Palladium, and various West End shows.
For a year, between 2024 and 2025, I also worked as a costume design assistant and head of wardrobe for Blackburn International, for live perfomances. I assisted the designer in the creation of the costumes: from buying to fittings, alterations, making and embellishments, and all the logistics.
I'm able to hand sewing and using both industrial and domestic machines. I'm a very organized person, I love working in a team, trying to bring positivity and good energy to the group. I always try to focus on delivering quality work that’s of the highest standard and to find creative and quick solutions to problems and challenges, without losing my positive spirit!
