I'm currently a student in the UK who is about to be enrolled on Film school over at Metfilm in London. I'm passionate about rigging up cameras and setting them up ready for production. The experience I have with rigging up cameras was when I did a short film at the BFI short courses in Derby called Bite Back, which is getting realised out soon or later around April time in 2026. This meant I had the opportunity to have a go at being a D.O.P working on the Canon C200 and rigging it up, and learning the basic skills of cinematography, which really helped me get good practice. I've also worked on the Sony FX30s to create music videos or use them for behind-the-scenes on my short film, which I also directed and edited. I want to gain knowledge in rigging cameras like the Sony FX6 or using the RED Komodo 6s, as I know that these are industry-standard pieces of equipment that the industry uses. I've had small practices while working on set with the help of the BFI and College; however, I do want to get out more and work on the production stage because I want to be there and work with professionals who all have the same passion as I. My end goal is to become a D.O.P., working on television, feature films and shorts; and if I want to have that job role, I will need to work with cinematic cameras, understanding the importance of lighting, and I believe I can achieve it by working on set a bit more.
I love to work on music videos, especially experimental ones, as they give me creative freedom to work on, especially in the editing aspect. In addition i like reviewing films on Letterboxed and talking about the director's choices, the cinematography of that film as well. Plus, it is a good way of socialising with people in the industry, and I tend to use it as an ice breaker.
