Hi, I run a loan limited company and have worked with in the TV and film industry for over 20 years on amazing varied projects. I started my passion with wanting to do special effects and found my first glimpse of this as a teenager helping out on the 'BILL' Xmas special and part time display team for Bracknell Fireworks. But my first university experience landed with costume armoury for 'Lord of the Rings' the musical. Since then I have gone onto, various departments and positions within model making; prop making, mould making, CFX master builds, vehicle dressing/builds, wind tunnel architectural model making, PU/foam spraying, SFX props and workshop build lead/supervisor roles. With lead roles this has lead to communicating and planning out with crews, access, space for several departments and areas within a production to complete items like vehicles. This can be from; chats with the designer, stunt crew, on set support crew, transport department, sfx department for mounting and pyrotechnic point locations, camera crew access, lighting access with power storage, paint planning, graphics with digital graphic access and set dec dressers. I enjoy all of this as communication is key. I am trained to use a forklift, telehandler, mobile booms (updated training maybe required) as well as most workshop machinery and hold a MSL: Safety Management in film and TV Production certificate which allows me to do risk assessments and workshop safety.
In the resent years a lot of my key work has been involved with Lucas films from kit bashing on a table, to lead and supervising the workshop production of film action vehicles. This has become a passion to design movie vehicles. I also still hold a strong interest in the design and function of mechanical props (produced a pilots' Yoke and submarine periscope) and costume armour, which I enjoy and would like to take further. I hold an interest in crew development and the methodology of how to produce the items. This is done by helping supporting 'the on the job training' of younger crew as this does not only help them but helps me to. In complete tasks, keeping morel, understand issues and being open to solutions from everyone (as no job is ever the same and we are all always learning).
