Description
I'm applying for new entrant roles such as camera, lighting, post-production, sound, grip, props, and general production support like a runner. I learn fast even when I'm under pressure. A good example of this would be when I worked a month for my friends client as a video editor in September. I struggle with it at first, but once I understand it I actually end up enjoying the pace. I'm good at figuring things out as I go as implied with my friends client work and I don't mind long days or physical work. I keep myself in good shape and health, so staying on my feet all day isn't a problem.
Most of my experience so far comes from editing. I've made a few personal projects that taught me a lot about pacing, rhythm and pulling emotions out footage. As mentioned before, I also spent a month editing two videos a day for a friend's client. Tough at first, but I adapted quickly. Recently I shot photos and videos for an event. I turned up with my Canon camera, tripod, and phone. The battery died halfway through, so I switched gear and carried on. And I got along really well with the people there and learnt a lot through the process. Overall it was a fun and big learning experience.
I'm comfortable working alone or as part of a team, I pay close attention to what's happening around me. Complaining is something I don't do, I think it's a waste of time. I like solving problems quietly, getting on with the job and having fun with the process with other people. I'm aiming to build a strong base across departments and become someone productions can rely on; someone who shows up, works hard and doesn't make things more complicated than they need to be.
Special Interests
I'm particularly drawn to stories that deal with how people think, react and break. Anything rooted in psychology, the human condition, struggles, something ethereal or real emotional tension is beautiful to me, because it's so real. I like projects that aren't scared to show the rough edges of people, things like conflict, transformation, the internal stuff people don't like to show or most people ignore.
I train martial arts and body building (will be moving to calisthenics). I also grew up in a particular environtment which gave me the ability to become exceptionally good at understanding human interaction and behavioural dynamics on an intuitive level. These things have helped me naturally pay attention to movement, timing, and how bodies tell stories without words. It helps me notice details in performance and action. Realistic, grounded storytelling, raw with emotional depth is more beautiful to me that something too polished. However I think the sweet spot is the combination of something polished and raw at the same time. I believe that strikes the hardest.
Most of what I make or want to make leans toward cinematic pacing and strong emotional beats. I like exploring/experimenting ideas, and building scenes from a feeling.
