My background includes practical experience in pattern-cutting, garment construction, hand and industrial machine sewing, garment preservation and garment alteration. I also have a Master’s in fashion history from Central Saint Martins, giving me a solid foundation in strong research, analytical and critical thinking skills to support every stage of the costume design process. I’m confident working under direction to source costumes in line with a production’s visual language and historical accuracy as I have worked for a number of years at Rellik, a vintage shop and archive used by costume buyers and designers. This experience has helped develop a knack for identifying pieces that fit any given brief. I have practical experience supporting styling and editorial projects, where attention to detail, continuity and collaborative teamwork were essential. I’m also experienced in archive management, including the organisation, labelling and condition assessment of garments. Overall, I bring reliability, adaptability and a strong work ethic to every project, ready to support the costume department with enthusiasm and precision.
I have a special interest in working on period productions, as I have a background in fashion history. More specifically, I'm interested in period productions where aesthetic liberties can be taken to appeal to modern audiences, as history is the lens we view the past through to interpret the present. Additionally I'm interested in productions based on gothic and romance literature. I love combining vintage and current fashions with custom made costumes to convey and develop characters to audiences. I also have a love of the fantasy genre, particularly Lord of the Rings, because of the breadth of scope in costuming required to create new lands and worlds that audiences may have only imagined.
