My name is Lara Martin, I have a distinction in TV and Film Production with Exeter College and I'm really passionate about film, story telling, and the power of youth voice.I’ve actively combined industry work during my 2 years studying, and I’m now looking for a long-term placement where I can develop my skills further.During my time at Exeter College I joined the Digital Media Academy, where we worked closely with industry professionals on both personal projects and briefs given to the college. This is where I discovered my real passion for building a story from a personal experience, and where I developed my production skills, which have been vital in my current work, both with Youth Parliament and Young Devon.Managing these alongside my college coursework, part-time hospitality work and being a young carer led me to be highly organised with excellent planning skills to manage changing priorities under pressure, and allowed me to engage diverse audiences and crew. This provided me with the mindset to be an asset to any team.
I am a naturally organised person, and have chosen roles that lend to that skill, such as assisting productions through managing equipment, risk assessments/paperwork, and designing scripts.I'm also an avid D&D player and both watch actual play (Critical Role, Dimension 20) as well as running a game myself. My love for the fantasy genre extends to film too, with Stardust being my all time childhood favourite, and I'm currently finishing S2 of BBC's Interview with a vampire, which I've loved for it's storytelling with the use of an unreliable narrator, creating intrigue that's kept me hooked.
