Description

BA Film Production Graduate from Arts University Bournemouth, specialising in Producing and achieving a First Class Honours. Actively seeking opportunities to work as a Production Trainee/Assistant/Runner to progress and succeed at a career in the Production Department. Aspiring Film & HETV Career Producer.

I have worked in a producorial capacity on many student and independent short films and music videos, which has strongly developed my ability to work in a team and stay organised, often across more than one project at a time, co-ordinating and supporting different departments in working towards tight deadlines. I am proficient in the workflow of Microsoft Office, which I used to create call sheets, movement orders, and other crucial paperwork for my cast, crew, and university production office.

For my university graduation project, I produced the fiction short ‘Brumdog,’ a glimpse into the diasporic experience through the eyes of a child that blends comedy and drama. The greatest challenge was casting a diverse group of child actors, including the lead, working within tight deadlines to cast and apply for each of their performance licenses. I led a successful crowdfunding campaign, raising and managing a £6,500 budget, and was responsible for ensuring the production ran smoothly day-to-day by providing support to all departments; this involved organising and cleaning facilities, managing on-set health and safety, attending to talent, booking travel and accommodation, providing catering and craft services, and much more. Ultimately, I learnt how to be a form of support that my team could rely on, arriving on time and prepared to take initiative and solve problems. I have also been responsible for managing the festival run for the film, which was selected for the BAFTA-qualifying British Urban Film Festival, among others.

Special Interests

During my time at university, I developed a keen interest in the business of filmmaking, regularly reading and studying the trades and industry newsletters such as The Hollywood Reporter, The Ankler, and Puck’s podcast The Town. I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on the relationship between art and commerce in studio filmmaking with a focus on Warner Bros., for which I earned a First, exploring the studio’s history of empowering filmmakers during its Classic, New Hollywood, and Modern eras amidst changes in corporate leadership, supporting them in telling inventive and inspirational stories. Through this research, I developed a great reverence for many producers and executives at Warner Bros. such as Michael De Luca, Alan Horn, Lisa Henson, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee, to name a few.

I am an avid reader with a broad interest in all genres and narrative forms, including novels and comic books. My favourite films are ‘Cast Away’ and the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, and my favourite series are ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’.

What draws me to working in the industry is the opportunity to collaborate with others who share my passion for film and TV; I enjoy being part of a team and have strong communication skills, feeling at ease when working with others. I value kindness and empathy, and always seek to understand new perspectives and ideas, believing that building trusting and collaborative relationships is vital to a project’s success. I have been complimented for my work ethic and sincerity, with collaborators describing the dedication and enthusiasm that I have for my work, qualities that make me a valuable member of the team who can be relied upon to support others in achieving their best work. I also enjoy problem solving and have the ability to prioritise and multitask, traits that will ensure I can be proactive and take responsibility while working long hours in a fast-paced production office.
