Hello, I hope you're having a great day I'm interested in Camera Trainee Roles. From the age of 7, shooting terrible short-action movies with my friends on a 360p handicam from Argos, Ive always had an interest in cameras and framing. Theres something really special about watching back a moment captured on video. This passion then developed onto filming creative music videos from the ages of 13-19 and then ultimately, led to my interest in shooting narrative films and for the last 3 years, has been my main aspiration. I grew up in a very rural part of Wales with very limited internet, a one screen cinema, and a lot of free time and as such, movies when I got a chance to watch them were a great escape and source of inspiration. I ended up becoming a big fan of the storytelling and loved the different kind of emotions they could pull out of the audience and this was a skill I wanted to learn. Sci-Fi, Films based on real events and Action have always peaked my interest the most and since I had a talent for the technical side of things anyway, shooting , using the lights and the cameras was the most logical path for me to progress down. Since joining the film course at the University of Derby I have been the DOP on 5 projects and 3 more are currently in pre production. Ive shot on 35mm and 16mm film and 2 of my projects have been accepted into film festivals. Ive still got a lot to learn but with each shoot, I believe my skills within this role increase dramatically and I cant wait to see where it goes
