Description
I am a creative performer and writer with an academic background in Performing Arts and Creative Writing. I have been an extra on the follow-up TV series, 'Boiling Point', as well as 'Sherwood', being given personal direction by the main director. also have experience in public-facing retail sales employment and planning, as well as executing, arts events and PR marketing strategies. I am aiming to merge my previous experience in writing, acting and communicating with a career in the film and television industry.
During my studies at BA level at the University of Winchester, I won the Writing for TV 2016 award for my television and theatre scripts; additionally, at MA level at the University of Chester, I graduated with a 1:1 for my Drama degree, which involved producing, writing, directing, filming, editing and acting in my own short films. I am currently studying for a PhD in Drama, remotely, at De Montfort University, with a focus on semiotics and clown performance.
My core skills are my organisational, scriptwriting and presentation skills; additionally, I have a creative outlook on topics and issues, and bring this mindset to any task that people see as having strong boundaries. I would say this is reflected in my clown character, Oddgy Splodgy, who has developed a small following on Instagram; if that does not portray my alternative outlook to situations, I am more than willing to learn what else I can do!
I am also well-versed in running social media and taking photographs for company profiles and promotion on a media level, as well as chasing leads for press releases.
On a personal level, I thrive in creative industries, am adaptable and friendly (I like to think!), as well as having a great humour and a positive outlook even when things look tough, but having the alternative strategies to help teams, and independently myself, power through.
Special Interests
I am incredibly passionate about clown performance and physical theatre. When I am not looking at circus and television clowns, I am watching horror films with my partner and hiding behind the sofa. I adore comedy television, with Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder being some of my all-time favourites in the industry. In terms of cultural passions, I listen to classic rock, avidly watch wrestling (especially AEW, with MJF being my absolute favourite - Mox, Chris Jericho and Rush being close seconds!). I have been in a comedy group that became very mildly famous in Norway for parodying Ylvis; we were, and are still, known by the brothers as well as Calle Hellevang-Larsen, who endorsed our comedy sketches parodying I Kveld Med Ylvis as well as the Raske Menn. This led to a performance at the Brighton Fringe festival under our comedy group name, The Frauds - I met my partner and a lifelong friend through this comedy group. We produced our own material, filmed sketches and music videos for YouTube, as well as singing, directing and acting in our own work. Someone even made a mini documentary on our process for one of the episodes we filmed!
