I have a BA in Design for Performance which has given me formal training for designing for Theatre performance.I have extensive knowledge on what it takes to put on a performance and collaborating with other creatives such as directors, lighting and sound designers and wardrobe. I also have extensive knowledge on measuring up spaces, creating ground plans of these and reading ground plans. I really enjoy creating 3D models of spaces and sets on AutoCAD some of which have been used by scenic constructors to make props, others have been 3D printed. I also have extensive model making skills through making model boxes which have been used by a technical crew to communicate design. They have also been used by Directors and Actors to visualise what the design will feel like within the space. This has also been used by a scenic art team to paint floors and back cloths for the realised performance. I have a lot of experience in costume design for realised and speculative designs. My designs have been used by costume supervisors to assist me with the costume sourcing process and into the fitting process with actors. I have got lots of very positive feedback on my costume designs and fitting etiquette from actors and directors. I have intermediate costume construction skills, including patten drafting, fittings and alterations. I have basic hand tool skills and I am able to read and understand technical drawings for carpentry and manufacturing engineering.
