Description

I'm Millissa Morris, a Birmingham-based Prosthetics and Special Makeup Effects artist and founder of Black Diamonds Creations FX, a creative brand dedicated to crafting hyper-realistic trauma effects, character transformations, and emotionally-driven prosthetic storytelling for film. TV, theatre, and photography.

My specialist focus is creating ethnicity inclusive encapsulated silicone trauma prosthetics, which can be used not only just to simulate physical injury, but to visually express complex emotional narratives such as grief, survival, transformation, and identity. I'm passionate about pushing the boundaries to what SFX can communicate on screen, bringing depth, realism, and truth to every character and moment.

With a background in skincare, beauty, sculpture, painting, and character-led-design, I create bespoke prosthetic pieces for productions and offer trauma simulations for emergency services training, working with fire, police, and medical professionals across the West Midlands and surrounding areas. My work blends artistry with purpose, serving both dramatic storytelling and real-world crisis-response scenarios.

I bring a grounded, collaborative approach to set and thrive in both fast-paced and sensitive environments. whether its a subtle character ageing or high-impact trauma work, I tailor my craft to the needs of the story and the director's vision, always maintaining professionalism, discretion, and creative flair.

I'm currently developing a retail line of encapsulated silicone injury prosthetics to serve the wider creative ad training sectors with diverse, and screen-ready pieces.

At the heart of what I do is the belief that makeup is more than aesthetic, it's a visual language. Through Black Diamonds Creations FX, I champion Special Makeup Effects as an essential narrative tool that is bold, transformative, and emotionally resonant.

Cutting through Limits, Crafting Legends.

Special Interests

Alongside my work in film, TV, and theatre, I have a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of creatives, particularly young people aged 16-24 who are underrepresented in the industry or unsure how to access creative careers. through Black Diamonds Creations CIC, I designed and deliver practical workshops that introduce young people to the world of prosthetics, Special Makeup Effects and creative storytelling, using hands-on techniques like sculpting, silicone application and trauma simulation.

My goal is to create safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces where young people can experiment, express themselves, and build confidence, especially those who feel creatively disconnected or excluded from traditional pathways. Many of my workshop are based i Walsall and the wider West Midlands and are tailored to both beginners, those considering a future in the creative industries.

I'm particularly interested in supporting young people who are navigating personal or social challenges. I use special effects makeup as a tool for self-expression and transformation, helping participants explore identity, resilience, and storytelling through art. These workshops often lead to increased self-belief, practical skill development, and a stronger sense of purpose.

This strand of my practice fuels my wider mission: to use creativity not only for production but for empowerment, access, and community impact. Whether on set or in the classroom, i'm passionate about making creatively visible, valuable, and accessible to all.
