For 10 years I have worked in the Assistant Director's department in film and TV. Starting as a Floor Runner I gained enough recognition, skills and experience to step up to 3rd Assistant Director and Floor 2nd AD. My credits range from short film, HETV and features of varying genres and budgets. I pride myself on my ability to adapt to each production quickly and smoothly.Supporting the 1st AD and 2nd AD from prep to shoot is my first priority. In prep I assist the 1st AD on tech recces and with the schedule. For the 2nd AD I assist with fittings and rehearsals. In addition I prep, distribute and keep logs of all radio communication equipment for the set crew.During filming it is vital that I accurately and in a timely manner communicate between the 1st and 2nd, as well as Producers, other Heads of Department, actors, crowd and other contributors. On a daily basis changes come fast and frequently therefore communication lines are crucial for the smooth running of the set.I have developed effective ways to handle complex situations with professionalism and a calm demeanour. Crew and cast trust me to keep them informed, pass on information with accuracy and speed and collaborate across departments to find solutions. In addition I manage AD Runners from the interview process through to the end of filming. Providing a supportive environment for them to work and learn in important to me. Through open and honest communication I develop relationships with my team and enjoy teaching them about the world of assistant directing. I find it to be both an important aspect and an exciting experience to introduce new entrants to the film industry and the AD department. As a Assistant Director I have learnt through trial and error to put stress aside and remain calm and confident throughout all aspects of prep and shoot. I am hoping to continue working as a 3rd AD and Floor 2nd AD and one day step up to the next role in the Assistant Director's department.
