My name is Will. I’m a BA (Hons) Media Production with Placement Year student based in Bournemouth & Norfolk.My background is very centred around the performing arts. I have been dancing in classical dance styles such as Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz and Contemporary for close to 10 years now. From my love of dance, I decided to undertake dance as one of my GCSE options in the hopes of pursuing my original career aspiration of being in musical theatre. Going into college, subjects related to the performing arts weren't available at my preferred institution, as a substitute I opted for Media Studies. From then, learning about the media industry and producing a music video for the coursework assessment sparked a love for visual media.Then the time came to start looking at university. With a passion for media rising, I knew that a career in the media industry was my future. After frequent recommendations, Bournemouth University was deemed the top choice. Today I have grown as an individual in confidence, teamwork ability, organisation, leadership and the list goes on from working on a variety of projects including films, documentaries, scripts, live events as well as working part-time in the hospitality industry building key people skills in the public sector.Thinking about my future career, I have a very varied skillset which I am able to apply to a variety of industries including, but not limited to, Film & TV, Marketing & Communications, Events and Theatre with the overall aim to create experiences that audience's will enjoy interacting with. Creating moments that matter!
My special interests are very varied with a particular interest in winemaking and i have followed that interest further by undertaking an online course through the University of Adelaide in "World of Wine: From Grape to Glass" This interest was developed after working in award-winning hospitality businesses for the past 6 years alongside my studies.In addition, I have a interest in transport, particularly aviation and trains. This mainly involves plane and trainspotting while I am going about my day. Overtime, I have come to be able to recognise plane models and the liveries of various airlines; doing the same with trains, being able to recognise train classes and the liveries of various train operators.Despite those interests, I would say my biggest interest is in Theatre. For many years, I have consistently, at every opportunity, seen stage shows with friends and family, seeing everything from Wicked to Hamilton, and Tina Turner the Musical to Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. Theatre is something I love so much allowing me to escape to another world and live in the moment.
