Description
Cera discovered her love for screenwriting when she produced her first film at The University of Birmingham. Fifteen years down the line, she has written many scripts for film, television and theatre, and particularly enjoys writing comedy, romance and adventure stories. Cera most recently wrote romance movie ‘Styled with Love’ (which was nominated for a MovieGuide Award) alongside Christmas movie ‘Planes, Trains, And Christmas Trees’ for Reel One Entertainment, both of which were released in 2022. Her next movie, 'The Princess Playbook' is currently in pre-production. Other produced work includes animated web series 'Listen To Bapou', which is based on her Greek-Cypriot grandad, short film 'Halfway Hotel' for Scriptworks Productions, 'The Amazing Ava' for Mobley Street Productions, and found footage horror film 'The Tunnel', which she produced with her directing partner Brendan Cleaves. Her short film 'Daddy’s Fort' was also included in feature film 'The Impact', a collaborative filmmaking project run by The London Screenwriters' Festival. In recent years, Cera has enjoyed getting back to her theatrical roots by writing, directing and producing a stage adaptation of her feature film 'Destination: Hollywood'. Her stage play 'Those Kids Who Killed Ms. Hannigan' also won The Herts & Essex Playwriting Festival and received a full production at The Hertford Theatre. When Cera isn’t writing, producing or directing, she can normally be found performing on stage and screen and has appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including Downton Abbey, Endeavour, Trust, White Gold, Grantchester and Holby City. Cera is represented by Christina Pickworth at Imagine Talent and is also a member of BAFTA Connect.
Special Interests
I have a particular love for writing comedy, romance, adventure stories and have a soft spot for YA stories. I've also recently started writing horror movies, as this is a genre I love to watch. One of my goals is to bring back the sitcom, although that might take me a while! I've also been performing on stage since I was twelve and am working on adapting one of my feature films into a musical. I have also enjoyed mentoring new writers alongside Lancaster University, Middlesex University and The London Screenwriters' Festival.
