Hi I'm Sam, a Cinematographer, Photographer, and Camera Trainee based in Oxford with a wide range of experience working on short films, music videos, and commercials. I have recently finished my final year of study at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham.Ever since I was a child painting with my Grandfather, I have always had an extreme passion for creating visual imagery. This passion led me to study both Art and Photography at 6th form in my final years of secondary school. During this time I also developed a love for Film and Cinematography, a perfect combination of all my passions. Since then I have been studying Film Production BA (Hons) at The University of Gloucestershire. Now recently finished, I'm more passionate than ever about perfecting my craft and am filled with excitement for what's to come. My experience as a cinematographer on many student films has allowed me to gain an in-depth, up to date understanding of camera and lighting equipment, as well as experience working in a team and sharing ideas effectively. I also have experience assembling film studio sets with large flats, as well as editing and colour grading in Davinci Resolve.
As a Cinematographer I'm particularly fascinated by lighting and composition. I often draw inspiration from classical painters as well as other Photographers and Filmmakers. For example Caravaggio and chiaroscuro lighting acted as a huge source of inspiration for me when lighting and composing frames on short film "This Will Feel Lovely". I'm extremely interested in the camera department and am looking for work as a Camera Trainee to help improve my skills and gain on set, industry experience.
