Description
Louis Sterling is a BBC-supported music composer, sound designer, editor, and re-recording mixer based between Bath and London. He has served as Assistant Producer for Channel 4's Branded Entertainment team, supported BBC Audio on peak-time broadcasts, and worked with talent at Warner Bros. De Lane Lea on feature films. He is a member of BECTU, the British Music Collection, and the Black Artists Database.
Sterling's career is rooted in classical training under Dr. Peter King of Bath Abbey, and his ear for detail quickly earned him critical acclaim. After leaving school, his music gained substantial recognition from the North American record label URBNET, which praised him for "refreshingly pushing the UK beat scene." Following an appearance on the 6 Music Recommends show with Mary Anne Hobbs, Sterling was invited to perform at the BBC 6 Music Festival in February 2016.
In 2018, his debut album was the inaugural release for 99Chants, a Berlin-based contemporary music label spearheaded by notable composer David August. The album, Adisceda, was deemed 'Outstanding' by Rough Trade Records, while Headphone Commute described it as a 'modern-classical meets electronic marvel.' Mastered in New York by Rafael Anton Irisarri, the album found its way into vinyl collections across the UK, US, and Europe, eventually catching the attention of Gigi Masin, who invited Sterling to open for his Vahiné album tour across the UK in March 2023.
Sterling's latest soundtrack for BOUND, a short film directed by Abigail Feavers, garnered attention at the 2024 Pinewood Lift-Off and the New York Independent Film Festival. He continues to explore sound and music for film, leveraging his experience to motivate and inspire younger generations.
