I’m currently a freelancer at BBC 3 Counties radio, covering the patches Beds, Herts and Bucks. I work with the social media team and am a Junior Coordinator for the Justin Dealey show. I have also a freelanced at LBC, working in the digital newsroom. I was responsible for Live blogs during the 2024 general election period. For my final project I produced an investigative documentary for TV titled Kiwi Farms: The worst website you’ve never heard of. I gained experience in self-shooting. I enjoyed expressing my creativity and it inspired me to believe that great content can be produced without a budget. It allowed me to put my journalistic ethics and media law in to practice as certain interviewees made accusations that could not be broadcast. Our documentary was made with the intention to get the site taken down and I contacted multiple government departments and Google. I felt thoroughly motivated by the prospect that my documentary could cause real world change. I am BJTC qualified with a Masters in Broadcast Journalism at City, University of London. During the course I gained newsroom experience and learning how use systems such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Burli, and WordPress. I also learned copywriting skills and scripting for cues and packages. The Newsday’s have provided valuable practice in a newsroom environment as well as presenting and producing to deadlines. I have excellent writing and research skills which I was able to develop during my English degree from the University of Nottingham – 2:1. A particularly interesting part of my degree was the module on ‘Popular Culture’ for which I studied emerging consumerism relating to books and their screen adaptations. I also enjoyed learning about contextual history surrounding the texts.
