I believe that the skills, creativity and experience I have so far in life suit me perfectly to work in script development. I’ve always been engrossed by stories and also how stories work. I studied script writing modules at university and was a writer for an end of year film there which won best screenplay at the local film festival. I have also written other short films and treatments and pitch packages.I have experience reading script submissions and doing script reports and breakdowns and script analysis more generally.I've worked with cast as a runner on a big production and as director on a small one. I hvae experience as an AD, I've organised background and been a lock off on set. I have spent time shadowing president/executive producer of production company (Shaftesbury Inc) learning about creative development, producing and pitching. Spent time in meetings with writers and other producers. Worked closely with the development team there on projects the current development slate and also looking at new submissions. I am good with Adobe suite and Microsoft Office.
Ever since I was a child I’ve made little films and stories and always wanted to get into the film industry. After finishing my GCSEs I went on to do a creative media course specialising in moving image where I received a distinction grade. After that I went on to graduate from the University of Salford with a BA(hons) in film production. All the while I was writing my own short film scripts and working on projects with other filmmaker friends. The story side of film has always been what interested and inspired me the most. Stories are amazing, connecting with different characters and rooting for them, escaping to different worlds never even imagined before. Being brought to tears or rolling around with laughter stories can have an incredibly emotive impact on people and I would love to be apart of that. This is why I want to work in script development to help shape the stories that will bring people joy, and pain and all the feelings that stories bring us. I myself particularly enjoy comedy and drama, both as a writer and a viewer. This is not to say I don’t enjoy other genres but I have a real love for the more grounded films, often rooted in realism or using something like comedy/satire to play with that idea.
