Ben Philpott originally studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (specialising in TV Production), before training as a cameraman at the BBC Film Unit, and becoming a freelance, BAFTA-nominated Director of Photography with over 25-years’ experience, working on both scripted and non-scripted international projects Following a career break to focus on his family, Ben is returning to my much-loved work in HETV. He is in the first cohort of the ScreenSkills "Return to Work in HETV" initiative and has also completed several ScreenSkills workplace courses. In preparation for his return he has been shadowing colleagues both in studio and on location, shooting lens tests, and attending camera and lighting equipment familiarisation sessions. He has been re-accredited as Director of Photography by the Guild of British Camera Technicians."I am excited to rebuild my reputation as a cameraman who delivers creative, intelligent and sensitive images quickly and within budget.
