New to the industry, I recently completed my first traineeship with Calamity Films' 'Brassic' as a result of completing ScreenSkills 'HETV; Start A Career In Costume'. My responsibilities were as such:- Researching and sourcing items for continuity from previous seasons.- Maintaining the continuity folder through efficient filing systems and photographing actors on set. - Using an Equals card and following correct financial procedure to maintain accounts. - Processing receipts and purchases.- Checking in hired items and ensuring a detailed system was in place to streamline the returns process. - I was responsible for SA's from getting them changed to supervising them on set and taking relevant continuity photos. - Carrying out alterations on various garments both by hand and with a domestic machine and over-locker. - Laundry duties and preparing the line-up for following days. - Assisting my team with their general day-to-day duties. - General upkeep of the truck and facilitating my crew's needs. Following this I took a position as a Costume Supervisor at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House's pantomime 'Peter Pan'. Here I was responsible for the following;- Carrying out fittings and alterations both on main cast and an ensemble of children. - Sourcing and buying various required items. - Constructing specific costumes. - Using colour-coded spreadsheets to prioritise items and stay on track. - Establishing a laundry schedule for over 400 costume items and communicating this with theatre staff and the cast themselves. - Maintaining costume throughout the show's run with quick repairs. I'm now looking for my next challenge in the industry. I'm eager to learn and establish myself as a valuable member of any crew's costume team.
