I have worked in the Locations department supporting a broad range of productions for over thirteen years, including just over six years at Emmerdale. The role of Unit Manager did not exist at Emmerdale prior to my engagement and in line with my experience, elements of both Location / Production Management have become integral to the role. In reality, my current job is far more involved than its namesake. I often cover the Location Manager for prolonged periods and comfortably take on additional responsibilities. I have always pro-actively taken an interest in the wider functioning of production albeit almost exclusively through the lens of Locations. While I continue to enjoy my job and take pride in my work, my experience outstrips the demands of the role, which has been intentional while raising a young family. The more significant challenges in my career, which I relished at the time, came from Unit Managing HETV Period Dramas. Now my children are a touch older, I am once again receptive to new opportunities, particularly ALM or LM roles. Now is the right time for me to realise my full professional potential, strive for more senior positions and effectively pick up where I left off, ready to step up as a freelancer.
